Channel House - few homes in the world are as unusual and magical.
Set in two acres of mature tropical gardens with 300 ft of sea frontage and only 20 yards from the turquoise waters of the beach, this beautiful house was one of the early, old houses on Providenciales.
Built in the traditional Bermudian style it is set high up, 12 ft above ground level, allowing superb views out over the waters of Leeward Going Through.
The house has two upper bedrooms with king-sized beds, en suite bathrooms, ceiling fans and wide sliding doors which lead onto private terraces which form part of a fully netted walk-round veranda.
The main house is finished throughout in Spanish cedar with polished hardwood floors, giving it a warm, rich, feel. The main living area is a large, gracious high-ceilinged room decorated in rich colours which highlight the owner's collection of Haitian art.
A beautiful sea facing external terrace has a large, comfortable sitting area and dining table for al fresco living.
There is a contemporary kitchen equipped with large dining table, electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer with ice maker.
Other amenities are BBQ, TV (local channels only), DVD, telephone (local calls only) and internet access. A laundry room is located below the house.
There are also two smaller double bedrooms, accessed through the gardens, which open out onto a paved pergola and patio. Around the pool there are many potential sitting areas, either in the shade under the tiki hut or on the patio for those who like a hot sun.

We stayed at this beautiful and comfortable house with a party of friends for a week, and had a terrific time. In an outstanding location, with stunning sea views and direct access to an almost 'private' beach, the house is surrounded by a large mature garden full of palms and flowering shrubs that give a sense of peace and seclusion - but not of isolation, being only 10 minutes by car to the shops and restaurants of Grace Bay. The Channel House really does give you the best of both worlds, and though we wished we could have stayed longer, in just one week we were able to see and do so much in this amazing place. We absolutely loved it!
We rented the Channel House for two weeks and had two groups of family come in for a week at a time. We absolutely loved the house and location was perfect for our expectations. We are seasoned island travelers and have done all the resort vacations and was looking for something more quiet with beautiful beaches and quiet atmosphere and this is what we got with this house. Keep in mind the house does get a little warm without AC in the main house but you get used to it as the house has excellent airflow from the water. It was bulit for airflow. You must have a car to get to the store and basically anywhere but it's all a short drive. The beach outside of the house is great and very quiet in regards to people. It is a channel so you get the occasional boat traffic but we didn't really notice it. Across from the channel is a park with a short canal which is great for kayaking. I could go on and on but I can recommend this house as I don't think you will be disapointed.
My family and I enjoyed an amazing week at the Channel House. The house was wonderful inside and out. We thoroughly enjoyed the location for all that it offered. The views of the channel, the nature preserve and rain storms from the upper patio were magnificent. The rooms were great as was the rest of the house. So nice to be able to walk to either the beach (essentially private) 20 yards away or utilize the heated pool. I also enjoyed the use of the 2 person kayak every afternoon, even saw a shark once near the mangroves! Our family talks about our trip and the Channel House literally at least once a week. Loved it and hope to go back soon!!
The Channel House is an oasis in the middle of a less than satisfactory island. The house is historic with amazing extras, like gorgeous wooden floors and panels, that you won't see on any other home, including a full house wrap around screened in porch. The house is fully appointed with lovely furnishings and gorgeous landscaping. The pool is wonderful and very private. You have a lovely view of the channel from the back deck with easy access to the channel for boating or snorkeling (found a family of lobsters living in the wharf next door. My biggest concern with the house is that it only includes two lower level bedrooms with air conditioning. The main house rooms are likely comfortable enough for sleeping with the fans most months, but in the summer months, it's really too hot and muggy to sleep well in the upper bedrooms.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Channel House in early January. It was a wonderful location for our active (teenage) family to explore the many things that Providenciales has to offer. The water sports, beaches, restaurants, and of course the reefs. We were delighted with the natural state of the island, all the sea life, and the friendly, welcoming and laid back vibe. But more than that, the Channel House and gardens were beautiful, comfortable and inspiring. We felt quite lucky to have stayed there.
